About this conversion tool
How this free tool works and how we approach kitchen density estimates.
Our purpose
We created this independent, browser-based calculator for cooks, bakers and students who need to convert volumes into approximate weights. It works in both directions and lets visitors enter their own density.
How values are chosen
The built-in ingredient values are representative cooking estimates, not certified laboratory measurements. Liquid densities vary with temperature and food composition. Powder bulk densities vary particularly with compaction, grain size and moisture. For critical uses, consult a product-specific measurement and use a scale.
What we provide
- A searchable database of 100+ ingredient estimates
- mL-to-grams and grams-to-mL calculations
- A custom density setting
- Practical charts and short educational guides
- Local-only recent conversion history
